So I’m reblogging this, but I gotta say, think about it a little. The stuff Matt Davis said… yes, totally inappropriate (other members of the TVD cast, like Nate!!!! happily reblogged it). You have to take into account, though, that he probably gets thousands of tweets a day asking him to tweet this, RT that, etc etc. Again, he’s definitely being an asshole, but it might not be a sudden thing… it could be a slow buildup. If it were just about MD, I’d say go for it. The thing is, it’s also about Julie…
As for Julie, I don’t think she gets enough credit. She and her team write the CW’s most highly rated show and, I don’t know about you, but most of the time she does a pretty good job. But EVERY SINGLE EPISODE she is FLOODED with rude and angry messages telling her how she messed up, and everything is wrong, and she should do things differently. That’s gotta be tough. I know that would start to annoy me. IDK if y’all have noticed, but like 99% of the TVD fandom is teenage girls (who are not known for being the most polite and/or rational section of society)… Julie puts up with a lot of really mean and nasty crap from “fans”.
I think her reaction to KolxBonnie wasn’t because she hates Bonnie fans, I think it’s because, as a writer, she cares about the Bonnie she’s written! Kol is a fun character to watch (and I’d personally love to see more Nate), but he’s evil and violent and mean! I think Julie was defending Bonnie, not attacking the fans. She wants Bonnie to be with someone GOOD and DESERVING! And consider that this is right after she has gone without sleep for a long period of time to finish writing the finale! The poor woman is at wit’s end!
I’m not saying ignore the boycott (I have dance class anyway, so I was already going to miss it lol!), but I am saying that AS A WHOLE, the TVD cast (especially Kat) is one of THE MOST DEDICATED TO THEIR FANS I have ever seen, and to me it seems kind of unfair to the rest of them to boycott just because MD is being an ass, and Julie had a long day.
Just think about that before you decide anything.
This Thursday, there will be a boycott of The Vampire Diaries episode and I encourage you all to join us. It’s time that we collectively made a decision to stand up for ourselves against the showrunners. It’s time that they understood that we, as fans, are in control of the ratings and that they…
